In 2011, Nijar began his film career with Madhur Bhandarkar's comedy Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, where he appeared in a cameo appearance. Starring Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, and Omi Vaidya, it performed poorly at the box office.

In 2013, he starred as an antagonist alongside Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha in Luv Ranjan's romantic drama Akaash Vani, which was a commercial failure too.

In 2015, Nijar reteamed with Ranjan for Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, a sequel to the 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama and co-starring Aaryan, Bharucha, Omkar Kapoor and Sonnalli Seygall. With a worldwide total of ₹88 crore (US$13 million), it emerged as Nijar's commercial success.

Nijar's highest-grossing release came in 2018 when he teamed with Ranjan for the third time in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety co-starring Aaryan and Bharucha. He played the role of Titu, a man whose friend, played by Aaryan, tries to separate him from his fiancée, played by Bharucha. Made on a ₹30 crore (US$4.3 million) budget, the film earned ₹152 crore (US$22 million) worldwide to emerge as one of the top-grossing productions of the year.

Nijar began 2019 with a cameo appearance in Akiv Ali's directorial debut De De Pyaar De, a romantic comedy film about a 50 year-old businessman who falls in love with a 26 year-old girl, and starring Devgn opposite Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu. It had total worldwide earnings of ₹138.51 crore (US$20 million) and was a major box-office success. His second release of 2019 was Jhootha Kahin Ka alongside Kapoor and Jimmy Sheirgill which proved to be a huge critical and commercial disaster.

Nijar will next star in Jai Mummy Di opposite Seygall which is set for release in 2019.
