Kalki Koechlin Announces Her Debut Book The Elephant In The Womb

Actor Kalki Koechlin turn author with her debut book, The Elephant In The Womb, an illustrated non-fiction account of motherhood. The book hit the stands on 27th September.

The book is illustrated by Ukaranian artist Valeriya Polyanychko, the graphic book will be published by Penguin Random House India (PRHI).

Koechlin, who welcomed her daughter with partner, classical musician Guy Hershberg, in February last year, shared the release date and cover of her graphic narrative on her social media profile. She captioned it, “Here's what I've been upto over the last year and half of lockdown and parenting! A combination of personal essays and think-pieces, the book is a "candid, funny and relatable" account talking about pregnancy and parenting for mothers, expectant mothers, and "anyone even thinking about motherhood".

On the work front, Kalki starred alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the drama Gully Boy. The film emerged as a critical and commercial success.

Next she will be seen in Goldfish, which also stars Neena Gupta. The film is set in London, the Pushan Kripalani directorial deals with memory, music, mental health, and identity.

It starts when Anamika (Kalki) returns home to her estranged mother Sadhana (Neena Gupta) because she is suffering from the onset of dementia. Anamika returns to a neighbourhood she barely remembers, to a woman who sometimes doesn't remember her. It is about how they explore these complex emotions.
