Overwhelmed By Asia Pacific Nomination - Rajkummar Rao
Rajkummar Rao starrer Newton is not only India’s official entry in the Foreign Language Film category at the 2018 Oscars. It is now confirmed that the actor is nominated in the Best Actor category at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) for his performance in the film and the actor is “overwhelmed” by such a huge honor.
“It is a great honor and I am really privileged. It is quite overwhelming to get nominated on such a big platform” said Rajkummar Rao on the sidelines of JIO MAMI film festival.
Rajkummar Rao also talked about changing scenario in Hindi Cinema, now the audience has a major connection to realistic cinema as the number of theaters has increased in India.
“There is definitely a change in Cinema; there is an audience who wants to watch realistic stories, characters, and roles. There is a mass connect of realistic cinema. So definitely there is a change”
“But I think earlier Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Bimal Roy, Shyam Babu, Govind Nihalani and many others were making realistic cinema. But I think those film didn’t actually reach the audience that much because there were fewer multiplexes. I think cinema halls have increased in our country, which has also contributed for realistic cinema to reach the mass. Now people have the option to choose all kind of films” added Rajkummar.
