I Am Not A Part Of Bollywood, So Won’t Be Making A Sequel Of The Kashmir Files Says Vivek Agnihotri

Mumbai, 14th May 2022 (NewsHelpline) – Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri says he will not make a sequel of The Kashmir Files, as he is not part of Bollywood, but will finish his trilogy which started with The Tashkent Files.

Vivek Agnihotri was interacting with NewsHelpline on the sidelines of a musical evening organized by team The Kashmir Files in Mumbai.

Sequel being a popular trend in Bollywood, we asked Vivek if he will be making a sequel of The Kashmir Files, and he said, “If I was part of Bollywood, I would have made Kashmir Files part 1, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and more, but sadly I am not part of Bollywood, so there will be no sequel of Kashmir Files. I decided to make a trilogy, first part was The Tashkent Files, second part is The Kashmir Files and now the third part might be titled as The Delhi Files”

Despite being critically and commercially acclaimed nationally and internationally, The Kashmir Files is banned in Singapore and politician Shashi Tharoor also took a dig at movie.

Now filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has a rebuttal and explanation, he said, “Movie isn’t banned anywhere, in Singapore there is a classification, see there is no freedom of speech there, there are plenty of subjects that you cannot talk about, for example LGBTQ related movies cannot release there, even more that matter Badhaai Do didn’t release there, Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Evil Dead, I mean the list is long, there are many movies which are beautiful and respected around the world which didn’t release in Singapore, and for politicians like Shashi Tharoor to make fun of the movie is sad as their senior leaders proudly claimed themselves to be Kashmiri Pandits”

After ruling the theaters, the film released digitally and Vivek is excited about it, he said, “For the first time in history, such a thing has happened that a movie released on OTT in sign language and people are rewriting its review and rewatching, in such a huge demand. I am amazed. Now I would urge everyone to watch the film on ZEE5, where it is streaming”

The film centered around an exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the disputed region of Kashmir. It depicts the early 1990s exodus to be a genocide, starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi.
