Sunny Deol Celebrates 32 Years Of Ghayal

Mumbai, 22nd June 2022 (NewsHelpline) - Ajay Mehra of Ghayal was a career defining role for Sunny Deol, which cemented his supremacy as an action hero,  and as the movie clocks 32 years of its release, action superstar couldn’t help draw a parallel with current times.

Released in 1990, Ghayal was helmed by Rajkummar Santoshi, starring Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Seshadri, Raj Babbar, Moushimi Chhatterjee and Amrish Puri in the lead roles. The film revolved around a college boxer avenging the unlawful killing of his brother.

Sharing a video post on his social media, consisting of all the hit dialogues from the film, Sunny Deol captioned his post, “#32YearsOfGhayal, The world hasn’t changed much. The film received 8 nominations at the 36th Filmfare Awards, and won a leading 7 awards, including Best Film, Best Director for Santoshi and Best Actor for Deol. At the 38th National Film Awards, the film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Sunny Deol received the National Film Award – Special Mention.

Ghayal was remade in Tamil as Bharathan in 1992, in Telugu as Gamyam in 1998 and in Kannada as Vishwa.

Meanwhile on the work front, Sunny Deol is making a comeback with back to back films, such as Gadar 2, Apne 2, Chup, Soorya and more.
