Mumbai, 15th March 2023 (NewsHelpline) – National Award winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta shares an emotional goodbye to veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, who passed away today, due to medical complications.

Actor Sameer Khakhar or better known for his iconic character Khopdi from Nukkad serial, passed away due to multiple organ failure caused by prolonged illness, he was 70 years old.

Expressing his grief and bidding goodbye to veteran actor, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to his social media handle and tweeted, “For some reason I was nicknamed Khopdi in college after his iconic character in Nukkad. My closest friends from the time still call me Khopdi. But I guess it’s time to say goodbye to the OG. Goodbye Sameer Khakhar. Thank you for the memories”

Khakhar was ailing for long and succumbed to multiple organ failure at a private hospital in Borivali suburb early today. His funeral is scheduled later today at the Vaziranaka Crematorium in Borivali west.

Blessed with a roly-poly personality, large eyes on a roundish face, Khakhar is best known for his role of a drunkard in the popular comedy-serial Nukkad. He also played big and small roles in over 40 Bollywood films, Gujarati theatre plays, half a dozen tele-serials.

Meanwhile, Hansal Mehta is busy with slew of projects, such as Dedh Bigha Zameen and The Buckingham Murders, along with series such as Scoop, Scam 2003, and Lootere.
