Aditi Rao Hydari And Paige Sandhu In Lioness
Mumbai, 23rd May 2023 (Newshelpline) - Hitting a high note with Taj and Jubilee series, actress Aditi Rao Hydari bags an Indo-British co-production titled Lioness, also starring Paige Sandhu, who won accolades for her performance in soap Emmerdale.
Lioness is written-directed by award-winning film-maker Kajri Babbar. The film - an Indo-UK co-production - was officially announced today at India Pavilion, managed by FICCI under the aegis of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the ongoing #CannesFilmFestival.
The film - inspired by the research of Peter Bance - the historian who discovered the story of Princess Sophia Duleep - is the story of two British-Punjabi women living in UK, a century apart.
One story is based on a historical figure, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, the Princess of Punjab and Goddaughter of Queen Victoria, who was one of the key leaders of the suffragette movement in the UK.
The second fictional storyline revolves around an educated, married immigrant woman, Mehak, living in Southall, a suburb of London, in the 1990s.
