During Baazi, Aamir Offered Me Sarfarosh Says Mukesh Rishi

Actor Mukesh Rishi, who shifted his character genre with Sarfarosh, narrated an interesting story about bagging the film while shooting for Baazi.

Mukesh Rishi, who was present at the special premiere of Sarfarosh on its 25th anniversary, along with Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Naseeruddin Shah. The special screening was held at PVR Juhu in Mumbai on Friday.

During the media interaction, Mukehs Rishi shared how he shifted character genres with Sarfarosh.

Actor Mukesh Rishi was known for his villainous role on-screen, but in Sarforsh he played the role of an honest cop, which changed the landscape for the actor. Talking about bagging the film, Mukesh Rishi said, “I was shooting the climax of Baazi with Aamir Khan, and he narrated the story of Sarfarosh. We were shooting the climax and in between takes he would tell me the story of this movie. At the time I was doing villainous roles, I didn’t have any reason not to do it.”

“During the narration, Aamir asked if I wanted to do the film, and I was laughing inside, I had no reason not to do it. And someone in the back shouted, you must test for it, and it was Ashutosh Gowarikar, and I thought to myself, I haven’t achieved anything and there is nothing to lose here, I rehearsed some lines and did the test, and I got the part.  I guess, during Baazi the gift that I got was Sarfarosh, and this movie has been the most cherished and happy moment of my life, which I will remember all my life” added Mukesh.

The film, directed by John Mathew Mathan, has been a fan favorite for decades.
