Manoj Bajpayee, renowned for his versatile performances, articulated his perspective on the essence of storytelling and cultural authenticity in Indian cinema.

Manoj Bajpayee was interacting with media while promoting 'Bhaiyya Ji,' he emphasized the novelty of the character, stating, "No, I wasn’t offered this kind of role before, and I am saying this with all honesty, this is the first time I met a director who offered me something like this."

Bajpayee's journey in the industry has seen him portray a range of characters, yet he noted a disparity in the roles offered post-successful films like 'Satyamev Jayate' and 'Baaghi 2.' He expressed disappointment with the narratives presented to him, highlighting the need for stories that resonate with Indian society. "Our mainstream cinema isn’t telling our stories, tales about our society, our heroes aren’t coming from our culture, or our village, or small cities. which was happening in 60’s and 70’s, but not anymore and because of that we lost our common audience, because it is not their hero. We need to make such movies which are culturally rooted."

'Bhaiyya Ji,' however, stood out to Bajpayee for its portrayal of authentic Indian relationships and cultural nuances. He commended the film for its portrayal of relationships like father-son, stepmom, and step-brother, likening them to the dynamics seen in Indian villages. "The kind of relationship you would see in the movie... it is exactly the same as it is in our villages," he remarked, highlighting the film's commitment to cultural integrity.

Bhaiyya Ji is Manoj’s 100th film, a revenge action drama set in Bihar, also starring Suvinder Vicky, Jatin Goswami, Vipin Sharma, Zoya Hussain and others. Helmed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film is set to release on 24th May.
