Shabana Azmi Honored with London's Freedom of the City Award

Shabana Azmi, the renowned actress, expressed her gratitude and joy at receiving the prestigious Freedom of the City award from the London Corporation. This esteemed honor, previously bestowed upon luminaries such as Nelson Mandela and Florence Nightingale, recognizes individuals of exceptional merit.

The award ceremony took place at the Guild Hall on May 10, 2024. Azmi was photographed alongside Alister King, the incoming Lord Mayor, as well as Baroness Gohir and Samir Bhamra, who recommended her for the award.

Shabana Azmi took to her social media profile and wrote, “Overwhelmed to receive the oldest award of London, The Freedom To City Award given by London corporation. Previous recipients were NELSON MANDELA and FLORENCE NIGhTINgALE amongst others.”
