Janhvi Kapoor's 'Method Dressing': A New Trend in Film Promotion

Janhvi Kapoor, known for her remarkable performances on screen, is also making waves with her innovative approach to film promotion. The actress has introduced a concept she calls "method dressing," where she dresses in a manner that reflects the character she portrays in her films. This unique strategy has not only captured attention but has also sparked a new trend in the world of film promotion.

During the launch event of the song 'Dekhha Tenu' from her upcoming film 'Mr. and Mrs. Mahi,' Janhvi Kapoor shared her insights on method dressing. She expressed, “Every time we promote a film, the makers and the team always tell us to dress similarly to our character, but I only ever did that in 'Dhadak.' Then I realized that there is a fair amount of attention on how we dress as actors and how we look, and that becomes a talking point.”

Janhvi further elaborated, “I think what these people have done, Urofi, Zendaya, Anya Taylor Johnson, even Alia Bhatt during 'Gangubai' and 'Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahanii,' they have done it so beautifully because it not only has recall value for the film, but it brings attention back to the film, it’s not just another trope. I am having fun with it; I love dressing up. I am treating it like a school assignment. I am having fun with it, trying to dress up in accordance with my character in the film. I don’t know how much of it is helping the film, but I do know it has become a talking point. If not anything else, it has started the hashtag at the bottom. So, there is some amount of awareness, and that is all I want.”

When asked if she gave any style tips to co-star Rajkummar Rao during promotions or filming, Janhvi Kapoor humorously shared, “I offered him a couple of cricket brooches, but he was like, 'You do all this.'"

Helmed by Sharan Sharma, the film is slated for 31st May 2024 release.
