I Am No One To Replace Kapil Sharma Says Zakir Khan

Popular stand-up comedian and actor Zakir Khan, clears the air about replacing Kapil Sharma, says he has a lot of love and respect for the actor, and he is just taking over the TV slot left open after the show ended last year.

Zakir Khan along with his podcast partner Kumar Varun were interacting with the media on the sidelines of Podmasters award night.

Zakir Khan said, “I didn’t replace him, I am no one in front of Kapil, I hold no reputation or talent to replace Kapil Sharma, he is a bigger artist than me. His show went to some other platform, and we are fortunate enough to fill the empty slot he left, I am no one to replace him. I respect him a lot, there is a lot of love and support from him as well.”

Zakir Khan and Kumar Varun’s podcast Umeed was honoured at the event, talking about the same, Khan said, “When we started podcasting, not many people were doing it, and we started it as an audio format, and today, this industry has become so huge, and we’re being recognized, so this is huge day for all of us.”

When asked if there is flood of artists venturing into podcast space, Zakir added, “I don’t see them as competition, I look at them as brothers and sisters, as friends, right now there are little less podcasters, trust me, pretty soon there will be a lot more entering this field.”

Khan wrote and played the protagonist in the Amazon Prime web series Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare.
