Marathi Cinema Is Proud, Don’t Compare It With South Says Karan Johar

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who adapted the hit Marathi movie Sairat in Dhadak, which acted as the launch pad for Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, said Marathi cinema is doing right by itself, there is no need to compare with South cinema.

When posed with the question of how Marathi cinema could achieve the same level of popularity and recognition as South Indian cinema, during an event in Mumbai last night, Johar's response was resolute and empowering.

He said, “When asked what must Marathi cinema should improve on so that it can be as popular as South cinema and adapted into main-stream Hindi cinema, Karan Johar added, “whatever we’re doing, we’re doing It right, and we should be proud of that, sometimes we decrease our value in comparisons, Marathi cinema is a proud cinema, and we should say, it is the best cinema in the world, we must believe it and it will be that”

“We’re proud to have rich, beautiful talent in Marathi cinema, we have plenty of talented actors, directors, technicians, and I believe we should be happy with what we do, and lots of love to Tamil and Telugu, but as Marathi cinema, I think we’re happy and doing a great job” added Karan Johar.

Karan Johar will soon commence the shoot for Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimrii and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
