Come Out and Speak Up About Mental Illness Says Deepika Padukone
Stunning and talented actress Deepika Padukone urges people to come out and speak about their mental illness, using #NotAshamed on this world mental health day.
The Padmaavat actress took to her social media profile and shared a video urging people to speak up about mental illness. She captioned it, “90% of India’s population is unaware of what they’re experiencing mentally & emotionally. There are others who refuse to seek help due to the stigma attached to mental illnesses. In 2014, I shared my story. Today I urge you to share yours too using the hashtag #NotAshamed @tlllfoundation”
The video aims to create awareness about mental illness, which otherwise in India is still considered taboo and people refuse to talk about it.
In the video, Deepika is seen saying, “Hi, I am Deepika Padukone. In 2014, I was diagnosed with clinical depression, but in India, 90% of people who suffers from depression don’t seek help. Depression is like any other illness that requires intervention. So if you are someone who has experienced any form of mental illness, I urge you to share your story by using the #NotAshamed”
Definitely a worthy and just cause to support and promote!
