Indian cinema hasn't seen a film like Tumbbad before says, Sohum Shah

Sohum Shah who is gearing up for the release of 'Tumbbad', said Indian cinema hasn't seen a film like Tumbbad before.

Sohum interacted with media at the special screening of the film in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The actor said he is excited about the release and thinks the film will be received well by the audience. "We have received a lot of positive response from the audience for the trailer. Rahi's specialty is that he has brought something new and special to the screen, it something which people haven't see in Indian cinema yet. I finalized the script and gave it many years of my life because I thought nothing like this has ever been made before and I didn't want to lose that opportunity.

And I think people themselves have noticed that about the film through the trailer. That they haven't seen anything like this yet. I think the audience will receive the film very well."

The film has a backdrop in Marathi mythology and is based in Marathi culture. Owing to the theme the makers of the film held a special screening for Marathi film industry.

Talking about the same Sohum said, "Our director Rahi Anil Barve is Marathi, as in every film the director's culture becomes a part of the film. We live in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Rahi wanted to screen the film for Marathi film industry. I also was very excited about the screenings idea and it is finally happening today. Even if the film is in Hindi the characters in the film are Marathi and everything in the film comes from Marathi culture."
