CBFC's decision for Rangeela Raja is unfair and wrong says Govinda

Govinda says the cuts demanded by the (CBFC) Censor Board of Film Certification are unjust and suggests that some politics is going on in the industry.

Govinda interacted with media for the promotion of his upcoming release, Rangeela Raja on Thursday.

After the (CBFC) Censor Board of Film Certification demanded 20 cuts from the film, maker Pahlaj Nihalani had to postpone its release.

When asked about the film's new release date and how he feels about he CBFC's demand for cuts, Govinda said, "We will soon let you know about the new release date but yes, the film did get postponed because of the issue with the Censor board. I just think it's not like 'Rangeela Raja' has something that other movies didn't have or things that haven't been seen in cinema before.

What the board is going comes off as an opposition and I am unfamiliar with such an environment in the industry. I started my career with Pahlaj ji and would like to request and hope that he doesn't have to face any more issues with the film. Someone is doing politics against someone and it's clear from the way things are currently going."

Nihalani previously said that the cuts demanded will leave the film without its essence and that they weren't given a chance to justify their choices.

When asked how do they plan to move forward Govinda said he thinks the board should reconsider. "The kind of situation they have created for Pahlaj ji is that we either go forward with the cuts and a flop film or we reshoot most of the film again. And I think this is very unfair and wrong. "

CBFC board has been directed by High Court to co-operate with the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal in passing judgment Nihalani's appeal against the cuts on Wednesday.

Asked how hurtful it feels for an actor with such caliber and experience as him, Govinda said, "I don't take it as hurtful. I just haven't experienced such a hostile environment before in the industry. Things have changed and people involved aren't just from the industry now. You can we politicians working in the entertainment industry and entertainer in Politics.

It's similar in the south but people work together there. They all know it's their business to create films and sell them, so nobody tries to stop it from happening on purpose. I think even our industry should learn to work together from them."

The previous release date of the film 'Rangeela Raja' was 16th November.

Directed by Sikander Bharti, the film's cast includes Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Mishika Chourasia, Anupama Agnihotri, Digangana Suryavanshi, Prem Chopra, Govind Namdeo and Shyamlal Yadav.

Written and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani, Rangeela Raja' is yet to find a new release date.
