Filmmaker and actor Tigmanshu Dhulia say his forthcoming drama Milan Talkies is his tribute to Hindi Cinema, especially the ones he grew up watching on single screens.

Tigmanshu Dhulia was interacting with media during the trailer launch of the film Milan Taklies. The movie stars Ali Fazal, Shraddha Srinath, Sikander Kher and Ashutosh Rana, among others.

The movie chronicles a filmmaker in the era of the single screen, talking about that aspect of the film, Tigmanshu said, “See this film narrates a story between 2010 and 2013; it was a time when prints were in use. It is only after 2013 that India became digital completely. So the story is from that particular time”

“Watching a film on single screen had its own fun, the ticket lines use to be mile long, the theatre use to have cigarette and samosa smell, that smell is itched in my psychic…the fun of big theater, almost a 1000 people use to watch a film together, so Milan Talkies is my tribute to Hindi Cinema, especially the kind of cinema I’ve grown watching and close to my heart”

The film Milan Talkies was announced some eight years ago, but now only it’s complete and ready for release.

Talking about the film and time it took, Tigmanshu added, “Every film has its own destiny. I have kept this film for the longest; it is so close to my heart. I wanted to make it for years, and I kept trying and this time I got lucky”

'Milan Talkies' is a dramatic blend of action-comedy, topped off with characteristic song and dance sequences. It also stars Sanjay Mishra and Yashpal Sharma in pivotal roles.

Produced by P.S. Chhatwal, the film will release on 15th March.
