Parmanu - The Story of Pokhran’s producer Prerna Arora reveals the reason to postpone her film

Actor John Abraham and Prerna Arora , founder of Kriaj Entertainment participated in NDTV’s ‘Banega Swachh India’ campaign along with Amitabh Bachchan on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti which is now also known as National Cleanliness Day on Monday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Prerna Arora and John Abraham revealed the reason to postpone their upcoming film Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran.

Earlier, ‘Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran’ was scheduled to release in theatres on 8th December and there were reports floating that producers of ‘Parmanu’ decided to postpone the film to avoid clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’, reacting to that reports, Prerna said, “Padmavati was earlier scheduled to release on 17th December which has been postponed on 1st December. Our film is big and important film. This film is made with lot of heart. It’s the important film for the country as well so we wanted to showcase our film in right way and we wanted to have availability of sufficient screens around us. We wanted everything to happen correctly so that’s reason we thought not to come on 8th December”

“It is very important decision for film like ‘Parmanu’ so John and we discussed and then we decided to have February release in between that, we also thought about 16th January release but during that time, there will be cold weather in North India and people might not go to theaters. John and producer has worked really hard for this film and they have done great job with this film so again we decided to release the film in February to get this film its due recognition”

John Abraham added, “There are so many film which have entertainment purpose only and there are very few films which are important for our country. According to me, ‘Parmanu’ is one such film which is very important film in modern India so it was important that we needed proper release for this film and now I am not just an actor but I m producer as well. I am producing this film with Kriaj Entertainment so I feel box-office collection is also important aspect of film business and now I think we have got good release date."

Talking about NDTV’s ‘Banega Swachh India’ campaign, John said, “As actors we are not just models, we are role models. I feel everything should start from our self. Each of us should keep our surroundings clean and we as celebrities should set that example for the people and there is no better example than Mr. Bachchan. He told me that he has been at this event from 8 am in the morning so I think he is true star”

When asked his views on whether this cleanliness mission has been successful, John said, “I don’t know about success but due to this, there has been lot of awareness for this cause and I feel it is important because earlier no one has even thought about ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and now everyone knows about it. Prerana, my producer she has earlier made a film like ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ and now we are coming with ‘Parmanu’ which is based on nuclear India. Nuclear India means zero gas emission and clean Inida. After Parmanu, she also producing film like ‘Padman’ so I think we are making sensible films now and our efforts has been to make good films”

Parmanu – The story of Pokhran also stars Diana Penty and Boman Irani. It is directed Abhishek Sharma and produced by Zee Studio, JA Entertainment and Kriaj Entertainment.
