Drishyam’ director Nishikant Kamat hospitalized; condition remains critical

Filmmaker and actor Nishikant Kamat has been hospitalized and he is currently undergoing treatment in Hyderabad.

Nishikant had suffered from cirrhosis of liver in the past and that has relapsed now. The director is reportedly in a critical condition.

Nishikant made his directorial debut with Marathi film, ‘Dombivali Fast’ which released in 2005. The film became one of the biggest hits of the year in Marathi cinema. The film was also critically acclaimed and won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2006.

Nishikant Kamat made his directorial debut in Hindi cinema with ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ which featured Irrfan Khan, Paresh Rawal, Kay Kay Menon and R. Madhvan.

He has directed a Marathi film titled ‘Lai Bhaari’, and Hindi films like ‘Force’, ‘Drishyam’, ‘Rocky Handsome’ and ‘Madaari’.

He made his acting debut with Marathi film ‘Saatchya Aat Gharat and then he went on act in Hindi films like ‘Rocky Handsome’, ‘Daddy’, ‘Julie 2’ and ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’.

Nishikant Kamat has also worked as a creative producer in web series like ‘The Final Call’ and ‘Rangbaaz Phirse’.
