Praising the film, actor Hrithik Roshan tweeted, “Just watched #GunjanSaxena . What a film . Cried my eyes out and laughed out loud . Entire team take a bow ! OUTSTANDING. ?”

On the other hand, filmmaker and producer Anurag Kashyap praised debutant director Sharan Sharma, Kashyap wrote on his twitter account, “It’s so amazing and refreshing to see a “coming of age of the Indian armed forces” disguised as a war movie . No fake patriotism, no unnecessary jingoism ... well done team #GunjanSaxenaTheKargilGirl . Super performances, writing but what a brilliant new director #SharanSharma”.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has written to the Central Board of Film Certification complaining against its "undue negative portrayal" in the movie ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’.

The Air Force in its letter to the censor board, and sent to Netflix and Dharma Productions, has stated that as per initial understanding, "Dharma Productions had agreed to represent Indian Air Force (IAF) with authenticity and make all efforts to ensure that the film helps to inspire the next generation of IAF officers. "

However, when the trailer of the movie was released recently, it was observed that "certain scenes and dialogues in the movie and its trailer, which was forwarded to this office for viewing, have been found to portray the IAF in an undue negative light."

The story of the Dharma Productions movie is based on the first Indian Air Force woman pilot who was part of the 1999 Kargil war.

Ms Saxena, who is one of the first female pilots to fly in combat, played an important role in rescuing injured soldiers during the Kargil War and was awarded the gallantry Shaurya Vir Award for displaying courage during the war.

Directed by Sharan Saxena, 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl' features Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza Mishra in pivotal roles.
