We are looking for actors who can do justice to the roles of cricketing icons; Kabir Khan comments on casting of other actors for his film ‘1983’
Filmmaker Kabir Khan attended opening ceremony of the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Khan stated that he is looking for actors who can do justice to the roles of cricketing icons who contributed to India’s 1983 world cup win.
Kabir Khan is all set to make showcase Indian cricket team journey who brought first cricket world cup in India in 1983 in which Ranveer Singh has been signed to play role of Former Indian Skipper Kapil Dev, so when asked Khan about casting of other players apart from Kapil Dev, Khan said, “I haven’t finalized other cast for the film apart from Ranveer as Kapil Dev. Now an audition for the film is in process. It’s a huge casting process because we not only have to cast Indian squad but we have to cast Viv Richards (West Indies), Clive Llyod (West Indies) and Imran Khan (Pakistan), so we have huge task of casting in front of us”.
When asked if there will be known faces who will play role these cricketing icons, Khan said, “We don’t know. We are going for actors. We are going for people who can do justice to the roles of these cricketing icons. When you are showcasing real or historical characters then, their looks also becomes equally important and most importantly, they have to embody spirit of the characters that they are playing”.
