Nandita Das thinks film editing is best part of filmmaking journey

Notable actress and filmmaker Nandita Das attended opening ceremony of the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Nandita stated that film editing is her most favorite part of film journey.

Nandita Das nowadays busy in his upcoming film ‘Manto’ post-production work, so when asked if she is happy with the film, to that, Nandita said, “If you ask a director how happy you are after shooting the film then it’s a tricky one but I just know that it can’t get any worse. It can only get better when you are in post-production. Film editing is my favorite part of filmmaking journey because all the mistakes you have done while shooting, now you can sort of try to make it better.”

“It’s been an incredible journey, lot of credible people have been part of it. I think I am fortunate enough to work with great cast and crew. Hopefully, by mid next year, it should be in theatres”

Nawazuddin Siiddiqui and Rasika Duggal is palying lead in Nandita Das Manto, so when asked experience of working with them, Nandita said, “Both of them are wonderful. Honestly, both are very accomplished actors and wonderful human beings because when you spend so much time with actors, you also want to work with good people, so I feel fortunate that they have fully dedicated themselves and they are real troopers.”

Talking about 19th MAMI Film Festival, Nandita said, and “I am busy in post-production of ‘Manto’, so I am also in middle of things but I am looking forward to it In fact, from organizers, I have got shortlisted best films across sections so I think they have really interesting lineup”.

Manto is based on the 1940's post-Independence period of India. The poster of the film was unveiled at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the title character of Indo-Pakistani author, writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Rasika Duggal plays the role of Manto's wife named Safiah. Rajshri Deshpande plays the role of Ismat Chughtai, Rishi Kapoor and Taahir Raj Bhasin also plays a key role in the film.

Manto is produced by Sameer Dixit and distributed by HP studios and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
