I hope Brahmastra gets even bigger than its cast says Ayan Mukherji

Filmmaker Ayan Mukherji attended opening ceremony of the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media for the first time after his film formally got announced, Ayan stated that he hopes that his upcoming film ‘Brahmastra’ gets even bigger than its illustrious cast.

Two days ago, On 75th birthday of Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, producer Karan Johar finally revealed the titled of the Ayan Mukherji-directed film starring Ranbir Kapoor and more information - like Amitabh Bachchan will lead the cast with Ranbir and Alia Bhatt.

Talking about his upcoming film ‘Brahmastra’, Ayan said, “It’s the biggest project of my life. All my hopes are on this film. I hope it become biggest success of my career and of film industry. I am very excited about the cast but I hope the film gets even bigger than the cast. They (Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt) all come together because story and theme of the film.”

Since this film is named ‘Brahmastra’, so when asked if the film set in ancient era and what kind of costumes will be used in the film, Ayan said, “I am not be able to give this information right now but all I can say is, this film is a modern day film. It is set in India as it exists today but the name of the film is called ‘Brahmastra’ because the energy, wisdom and powers in the film come from ancient India. As far as costumes are concerned, there are some costumes may not the way you would expect them to be”

Talking about working with Amitabj Bachchan for the first time, Ayan said, “It’s a great honour for me as it would be for any filmmaker to be working with him, in his 75th year especially. Ever since this film was conceptualized, I wanted to approach him for the film and make this film with him so I am very happy that he is part of team ‘Brahmastra’”.

Talking about 19th MAMI Festival, Ayan said, “MAMI is very special for me because before moving in films, I used to come and watch films at MAMI, so I am very excited about the festival. Ever since Kiran (Rao) and Anu (Anupama Chopra) have taken over the festival, the curation has become really good so I hope, I can take some off from my work and watch lots of films here”

‘Brahmastra’ - The fantasy adventure film is a trilogy and its first part will hit the screens on August 15, 2019. For ‘Brahmastra’, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions will collaborate with Fox Star Studios and Namit Malhotra, CEO of Prime Focus.
