Mission Kashmir fame actress Sonali Kulkarni credits the Indian writer for elevating the level of storytelling, because of superb screenplays there are far less cliché or sob stories in Pride film festival.

Sonali Kulkarni was interacting with media on the sidelines of Kashish Pride Film Festival in Mumbai.

Apart from being a leading force in acting department, Sonali Kulkarni is also a prolific writer. When asked about important of writing in movies, she said, “I am not a screenwriter but a writer, and yes, that develops a sensitivity to appreciate other writers. I am awestruck completely the way filmmakers have come-up with fabulous screenplays, some amazing storylines. And to my surprise if you ask me what is different this year in Kashish Pride Film Festival, that there were very few cliché films. There were very few cry stories, who are wanting attention and trying to say we also exist, and we want our share. There were some beautifully flowing themes, direction was flawless, and actors were superlative.”

Furthermore, Sonali praised the entire generation of writers for being original. She said, “Be it films or theaters (plays), writing is everything. And I believe India in terms of writing stands very strong, as we have original writers, though we do make remakes, but it doesn’t hamper our original writing.”

Kiran Rao, Shweta Prasad Basu, Barun Sobti, Lillete Dubey, Dolly Thakore, Anu Menon and more were present at the festival opening night.
